Due to the current crisis and social distancing, group video calls are in huge demand. Zoom and Microsoft Teams are more utilized than ever by companies that allowed employees to work from home. WhatsApp also recently allowed a group video call for up to 8 people instead of 3. But Facebook is now coming to the market with brand new Messenger Rooms. The New Messenger Rooms will allow up to 50 people in a group video call.

Yes, you read it right, your favorite messenger app will include this amazing feature. Moreover, Facebook will also allow 360-degree to Augmented reality backgrounds. So no more boring white or blank backgrounds when talking to friends and family, be creative.

Video calling as been on the rise more than ever. Zoom announced users’ growth of 300 Million in April. Messenger Rooms allow creating open rooms where it is open to join. The room can be created via Facebook or Messenger but Facebook is planning to add the feature to Instagram, Whatsapp, and portal devices. The initial testing allowed 17-20 people at a time with messenger rooms but Facebook said it will accommodate 50 people over the coming weeks.
