Riyadh – King Abdulaziz Bus Public Transport Network in Riyadh City set to begin operation in Q2 2020. The mega project is specified by the Royal Commission for Riyadh city.
A statement issued on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul). The statement mentions Saudi Public Transport Company SAPTCO as 80 percent stakeholder and main driver of project. The project cost will be announced later at some appropriate time. But after evaluating the necessary work plans with other related authorities.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has laid down a comprehensive public transport plan. A supreme committee will align and supervise the Riyadh Metro project and the construction of a parallel bus transport network with the public transport plan as per the decision taken by the Saudi Council of Ministers.
The committee has started its study of the project by estimating the project time frame, designs, specifications and related procedures. The project focused to diversify and expected to provide an effective and comprehensive public transport service for the Riyadh city.
The project will improve the public transport of Saudi Arabia. Previously, people didn’t have much choice when it comes to public transport. The traditional transport system used mostly by labour but the new network is a high standard. The Government taking interest in the project and it will be monitored thoroughly. So, Public will have access to new buses and train network to reach destinations.
