Sabiha Majeed’s solo show in Riyadh

Prominent Saudi artist Ms. Huda Al Omar inaugurated the exhibition at the Synergy Art Hub in Riyadh. Appreciating the artworks of Sabiha Majeed, Ms. Huda said it’s amazing to see her work. “Many of her masterpieces gives an impression of a photograph. Only after touching it, you can realize that it is not a photograph but a painting.” She said it is very rare for any expatriate to depict Saudi culture so perfectly.

Recalling her first meeting with Sabiha, Ms. Huda said that she met this Indian art sensation in her exhibition at the Kingdom Center in 2018 and instantly fell in love with her work. Her paintings are so perfect that it attracts every art lover instantly. Her depiction of Saudi culture and heritage is such amazing that at the first instant I also wondered how someone could be so perfect in depicting the culture of the host country where the artist is living as an expatriate.

On this occasion, after unveiling the painting, Huda was delighted to see her own portrait by Sabiha.

Inaugurated at Synergy Art Hub, the solo exhibition is still on for the art lovers, at Musa center, Olaya street Riyadh

Sabiha, born in 1973 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, living in the Kingdom since 2003, had inherited their creativity and artistic legacy from her parents, both of whom were great artists. Her father late Dr. Abdul Majeed was trained at Shantiniketan, a famous institution established by Rabindranath Tagore. Her mother Mrs. Rashida is a renowned batik artist. They established Apollo Arts in Udaipur where Sabiha’s family works for international clients. Sabiha graduated in Fine Arts from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi.

Sabiha Majeed Siddique is a fine artist and entrepreneur, who’s currently living in Riyadh with her husband Ayaz Siddiqui.  According to Sabiha, her works showcased at the exhibition “Creativity Is Bliss” are a self-discovery and an exploration of endless possibilities with whatever is in proximity. A struggle of thoughts that traverses the conscious and subconscious state of mind.

Best known for her oil paintings in the realism style, she has been practicing and experimenting with various mediums and styles for over three decades.

Many distinguished personalities including Mr. Abdul Hameed AlSaleh (member of the board of directors of several committees including GSFT), and many other art lovers, both Saudis and other nationalities attended the exhibition and everyone praised the dedication of Sabiha and her attraction towards Saudi culture and heritage.

Ms. Alia Al Diqs, Director, and Ms. Nosheen Mohammed, Deputy Director of Synergy Group, caught the attraction of the people. Indian music and Indian snacks were an added value.

Poet, writer and art director Kanika Aurora said “Sabiha is an extraordinary artist who brought laurels to her motherland India by showcasing her immense prowess and ability to translate people, places, and emotions into wonderfully expressive paintings which often speak volumes.” She said art is the ultimate communicator. Artists influence society, instill values, and translate experiences that transcend time. Painting, sculpture, music, literature, and poetry are often considered to be the repository of a society’s collective memory. Painting, in particular, is an extremely evocative art form. “Sabiha mastered her art in all the ways and I wish her success in all her future endeavors” Aurora added.
