Pakistan’s Ambassador visits Pakistan International School, Al-Khobar

Sana Bashir, Al Khobar – Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Lt. Gen. (R) Bilal Akbar visited Pakistan International School, Al- Khobar, of which he is the Patron-in-Chief, and met with the SMC: School Management Council and Administration of the school.

The Ambassador was accompanied by the Community Welfare Attache II, Mr. Malik Muhammad Abu-Bakar, who is also the Link Officer of the School.

Mr. Abdul Rehman, Chairman, SMC: School Management Council, along with his colleagues on the SMC namely Mr. Rao Kamran Khan, General Secretary, Khawaja Salahuddin Athar, Chair Finance, and Principal, Mr. Ajmal Jamil Mian and AVPs, Mr. Fida Hussain and Rao Umar Daraz Khan, gave an overwhelmingly warm welcome to the distinguished guests.

Chairman, SMC, Mr. Abdul Rehman made a detailed presentation to the worthy guests on the initiatives that the SMC had taken to improve classroom teaching and learning, train the teachers and staff, innovate the entire school system, refine procedures and regulations, and re-engineer education and management at the school.

Mr. Abdul Rehman was particularly thrilled to showcase to the distinguished guests the most innovative and creative work of the SMC to change the education landscape at the school. Major accomplishments of the board / SMC include the start of the teacher’s training program, replacement of outmoded textbooks with the latest internationally accredited titles.

The introduction of appraisal system, revision of school’s Rules & Regulations after a pause of twenty (20) years, preparation and adoption of academic, administrative and financial policies and procedures, code of conduct for faculty and staff, introduction and successful implementation of Authority Matrix, successful implementation of an Oracle Based ERP System to name a few.

H.E. the Ambassador expressed his delight over how the SMC and the administration were efficiently leading the school on behalf of the community and honoring the expectations of the community. He stated that he would urge other Pakistani International Schools in the Kingdom to engage with SMC of PIS, Al-Khobar.

Learn about the good teaching and management practices at this school and adopt these best practices in their respective schools for quality teaching and administration and a balanced relationship between SMC and school administration for the best interest of students and the academic environment.

The worthy guests expressed their immense satisfaction over the efforts of the school board / SMC and administration in transforming the school into one of the best Pakistani International Schools in the Kingdom.

His Excellency the Ambassador and the worthy Link Officer had a very detailed discussion with the board / SMC and administration and explored the challenges that the institution is facing. As to the biggest challenge of the school, to shift it to preferably in its own buildings away from the city center,

H.E. the Ambassador urged the SMC and administration to continue their valuable efforts of finding and leasing/purchasing a suitable piece of land somewhere in the nearby region and construct the school’s own buildings there. The Embassy will provide all necessary help and support in this matter, the Ambassador reassured.

Chairman, SMC, Mr. Abdul Rehman thanked the distinguished guests that they spared some of their valuable time from their crowded calendar, visited the school, and gave highly valuable advice and guidance to further improve the quality of education and the management of the school.
