- France “Taxe de Sejour” or tourist tax is also charged per night and per person. It starts at €0.50 per night to €4 depending on the city. Paris is the most expensive city.
- Germany’s Tax starts at €0.50 and it can go up to €4 per person and per night. Munich does not charge for Tourist Tax in Germany. Berlin have a cap of 5% tax and 21 successive days. Business travellers are exempt from the tax.
- Greece’s Tax depends on the type of hotel you stay in. Starting from €0.50 for one and two-star hotels. €1.50 for three-star hotels and €3-4 for four and five-star hotels.
- Hungary’s capital Budapest will charge an extra 4% in the room’s price per night.
- Italy’s Tassa di Soggiorno is expected between €3 and €7 for 10 days stay but Children under 10 are exempt.
- Netherlands or Holland charges 7% city which varies but it depends on room price.
- Portugal started the tax in January 2016. So their charge starts €2 per person and per night.
- Romania’s Taxa hoteliera locala is standardised so they charge 1% of total accommodation value.
- Slovenia’s tourist tax capped at €2.50 per night and per person. But it varies from hotel and location.
- Spain’s main Tourist attraction charges higher tax rates. But it varies by location. For Instance, it starts at €1 per night to €70 for a family.
- Switzerland approximately charges €2 per person and per night.
