Waqar Naseem Wamiq, Riyadh. The scientific symposium “International Cooperation on Combating Terrorism.” Organized by the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and Republic of Korea Embassy at the University’s headquarters in Riyadh. Firstly, he emphasized that the university plays a leading role in formulating the Arab strategy to combat terrorism. Implementing many of the activities that derive from it. The university is the scientific body of the Arab Interior Minister Council.

Secondly, he mentioned that the university recently hosted the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations to combat terrorism. A lecture was given at the university on international efforts.

Thirdly, in this regard, it was agreed during the establishment of joint activities with the United Nations agency, including the establishment of a joint annual conference.

New Strategic Plan

Dr. Al-Bunyan pointed out that the new strategic plan for the university 2019-2023 focused on the field of combating terrorism.

Moreover, it is one of the most important priorities of the university, and accordingly, the university launched several initiatives to enhance partnerships with international organizations in this field.

Most importantly, the university launched this year a diploma to combat terrorism. Also, a master’s program in financial integrity and focusing on combating money laundering and terrorist financing. In addition, to building databases at the Arab and international levels.

Support by Kingdom

He thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Highness the Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman. The material and moral support that the Kingdom’s leadership gave to this Arab institution and for the frequent care that it has been given from its inception until today. A unique institution in its field of specialization at the Arab, regional and international levels.

Achievements of the Naif Arab University

He affirmed that the achievements of the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences would not have been achieved without the grace of God Almighty. The permanent follow-up by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, Honorary President of the Arab Interior Ministers Council and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the University.

Korean Ambassador

The Korean Ambassador to the Kingdom delivered a speech. He praised the university’s efforts in the fields of combating terrorism. This includes organizing this important scientific symposium. A starting point for a strategic partnership that contributes to achieving common goals and objectives.

He noted the successful efforts made by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to combat terrorism. These efforts are at the regional and international levels.

Above all, the Korean ambassador called for strengthening international cooperation to combat the phenomenon of terrorism, which threatens international peace and security.

Sessions

  • Firstly, the work of the first session chaired by Dr. Abdul Karim bin Hamoud Al-Dakhil.
  • Secondly, he discussed many scientific papers but most notably a working paper on “Modern Trends in Combating Terrorism”.
  • Thirdly, it was presented by Professor Kim Kung Dung Sik. A paper on “Anti-Terrorist Policies” presented by the researcher at the Institute of Strategic National Security Dr. Park Bora. A former national security advisor in Tunisia, Admiral Kamal Akrout, presented a paper on “anti-terrorism policies”.

In addition, the session concluded with a discussion of Dr. Turki bin Abdullah Al-Jaloud’s paper on “Care, Rehabilitation and Community Integration.” Prince Muhammad Bin Naif Center for Counseling and Care as an example.

The second session, chaired by the university’s Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. AbduIlah bin Muhammad Al-Ma’youf. Above all, he discussed scientific papers on the methods of terrorist attacks against easy targets (the drone). Finally, the means of terrorist organizations in recruitment (social media).
