Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has endorsed Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup. The detailed bid will be submitted to FIFA in Paris by an official delegation led by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, the Minister of Sports, and President of the Saudi Football Federation, Yasser Al-Misehal.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal expressed deep gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unwavering support in making Saudi Arabia a hub for international sports. He highlighted the Kingdom’s significant progress and ambition to host the tournament’s first edition with 48 teams.

His Highness emphasized that the direct supervision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the bid reflects a commitment to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. This initiative aims to foster a distinguished sports generation capable of excelling in international sports and enhancing Saudi Arabia’s leadership on the global stage.

Official Candidacy Stages

The candidacy file will be officially submitted in a ceremony in Paris, involving Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Yasser Al-Misehal, and two children from regional training centers. This initiative by the Saudi Football Federation symbolizes the young Saudi generation’s ambition to host the world’s most significant football event.

Milestones in the Candidacy Process

  1. Intention Announcement: The Saudi Football Federation announced its intention to bid on October 4, 2023.
  2. Official Candidacy Letter: Sent to FIFA.
  3. Launch of Candidacy Identity: The slogan “Together We Grow” introduced.
  4. Official Announcement: The host country will be announced during FIFA’s General Assembly meeting in December 2024.
