German Cultural Days

Waqar Naseem Wamiq, Riyadh – On Friday 8 November, German Ambassador Jörg Ranau launched the German Cultural Days. The German Cultural Day with an opening reception at King Fahad National Library together with the guest of honor, H.E. Tareq Al Fares, CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. German Cultural Days starts from 8 to 16 November in Riyadh and Jeddah and encompasses several exhibitions and musical performances.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Jörg Ranau thanked the Ministry of Culture, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City and the King Fahad National library for supporting and hosting the event. He said, “We are grateful and honoured for being granted the opportunity to present in the coming week a Saudi-German perspective on urban art, culture and music”.

And, explained, “We will highlight not only the rich and diverse cultural scene in Germany but also the huge potential that lies ahead of us when Saudi and German artists work hand in hand”.

Exhibition

After the opening remarks, H.E. Jörg Ranau and H.E. Tareq Al Fares officially opened four exhibitions on street art, architecture, augmented reality art and science where they met

  • The Saudi urban artist Talal Al Zeid.
  • The German urban artist Michel Pietsch
  • The German architects Prof. Eckhard Gerber, who designed the King Fahad National Library
  • And Jens Bödecker as well as the German augmented-reality artist Friedrich Förster. Who explained their works to the two dignitaries and the guests.

In the coming week, the exhibitions will be open from 5 PM to 10 PM every day. And in the evenings a number of concerts will take place in Riyadh and Jeddah. More information on the program can found on Twitter @GermanyinKSA.
