Weather Forecast in multiple cities Thunderstorms, Rainfall, and Winds Expected. The National Center of Meteorology has released its detailed weather forecast for today, predicting a variety of weather conditions across different regions of the country. According to the forecast, there remains a significant likelihood of moderate to heavy thunderstorms, particularly in the southwestern and western regions. These storms are expected to bring torrential rains, potentially leading to localized flooding. The affected areas include Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and Madinah. In addition to the heavy rainfall, these regions may also experience hail showers and strong, active winds that could further exacerbate the stormy conditions.

In other parts of the country, specifically in Najran, Hail, and southern Riyadh, the weather is expected to be less severe, with light to moderate rainfall anticipated. While these areas may not experience the same intensity of storms as the southwestern regions, residents should still be prepared for wet conditions. The report also highlights the potential for fog formation, especially in the southwestern highlands. This fog is most likely to develop during the night and early morning hours, reducing visibility and potentially causing travel disruptions.

Sea Conditions

The forecast includes important details regarding the expected sea conditions for both the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf, which could impact maritime activities.

  • Red Sea:
  • In the northern and central parts of the Red Sea, surface winds are predicted to blow from the west to northwest at speeds of 20-40 km/h. In the southern part, winds will shift to a southwesterly to westerly direction, maintaining similar speeds but potentially increasing to 60 km/h during the formation of rainy thunderclouds.
  • The wave height in the Red Sea is expected to range from one to two meters under normal conditions, but waves could reach up to three meters during thunderstorm activity. As a result, the sea state will vary from medium to wavy, particularly when thunderclouds are present.
  • Arabian Gulf:
  • In the northern part of the Arabian Gulf, winds will be predominantly northwesterly to northeasterly, with speeds ranging from 15-35 km/h. In the southern part, the wind direction will shift slightly to southeasterly to northeasterly, maintaining the same speed range.
  • Wave heights in the Arabian Gulf are forecasted to be between half a meter to one and a half meters, resulting in a sea state that is generally light to medium.

Overall, today’s weather conditions present various challenges, from heavy thunderstorms and potential flooding in some regions to varying sea states that could affect maritime activities. Residents in the affected areas should stay informed and take necessary precautions.
