Gunjal: Entangled

Waqar Naseem Wamiq, Riyadh – The Pakistani award-winning movie “GUNJAL: Entangled” premiered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Embassy of Pakistan organized the event at the Cultural Palace. The screening attracted a large turnout, including Pakistani community members and foreign diplomats. The film’s lead actors, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Amna Ilyas, were present.

The screening was held at the Diplomatic Quarters’ Cultural Auditorium. Attendees included the film’s lead actor, actress, and director, Shoaib Sultan.

“The Pakistan-Saudi relationship is more than bilateral; it’s a brotherhood,” said Muazzam Ali, Deputy Head of Mission. He emphasized the cultural alignment between the two nations.

Pakistani Head of Chancery Mohsen Saifullah expressed excitement about the screening in Saudi Arabia. “This film showcases Pakistan’s vibrant film industry,” he said. He also highlighted the potential for future collaborations between the two countries.

Ahmed Ali Akbar and Amna Ilyas discussed the film’s themes. “GUNJAL addresses child labor and human rights issues,” they said. “It portrays a positive and realistic image of Pakistan.”

Director Shoaib Sultan noted the film’s upcoming release in Saudi cinemas. “There are 2.8 million Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia,” he mentioned. He added that the film draws inspiration from Iqbal Masih’s fight against child labor.

GUNJAL is a fictional narrative, inspired by true events. The film highlights Pakistan’s efforts to combat child labor. It was directed by Shoaib Sultan, produced by Nighat Akbar Shah, and written by Nirmal Bano and Ali Kazmi. The cast includes Ahmed Ali Akbar, Resham, Amna Ilyas, and Ahmad Ali Butt.

The audience praised the film’s focus on child labor. Both Saudis and foreigners recognized it as an important work.
