Umm Al-Oud Island

Located in Ras Mohaisen, within the Makkah Region of Saudi Arabia, Umm Al-Oud Island stands as one of the most enchanting destinations in the Red Sea. Visitors to this island can bask in the splendor of its pristine white sandy beaches, diverse flora, and vibrant coral reefs.

During a recent expedition to the island, the Saudi Press Agency captured the island’s serene beauty, boasting immaculate shores and delightful weather. Although this exotic island has gained popularity among tourists, it still requires additional development and investment to establish itself as one of the premier tourist hotspots in the Makkah region.

Summary of Umm Al-Oud Island

According to Tariq Abalkhail, a spokesperson for the Saudi Geological Survey, the island, known as “The Northern Umm Al-Gharaniq,” falls into the category of coral islands and is situated approximately 1.2 square kilometers to the northwest of Ras Mohaisen. Abalkhail further noted that the island sits at an elevation of two meters above sea level, adorned with sandy terrain and sporadic shrubbery dotting its expanse.

Mangrove trees grace its coastlines, particularly at the northernmost point of the coral barrier that encircles neighboring islands. Saudi Arabia boasts numerous scattered islands along its coastlines, spanning three waterfronts, solidifying its position as the country with the longest coastline among those bordering the Red Sea. — SPA
