For his part, the head of the Department of Astronomy and Space Sciences at King Abdulaziz University, Hassan Asiri, warned against looking at the sun directly during the eclipse, as this may cause damage to the eye.

Asiri indicated that the next eclipse will be an annular eclipse, which will occur on June 10, 2021, and will be seen in Russia, northern Canada, and Greenland.

Asiri added that the eclipse occurs when the moon falls between the earth and the sun in a straight line in space, and then the moon blocks the sun’s light from reaching the earth.

He also indicated that when a total eclipse occurs, the apparent size of the moon coincides with that of the sun, while at an annular eclipse the moon appears smaller than the sun and the sun appears in the form of a luminous ring surrounding the moon. (Source: Akhbaar)
