The Public Health Authority (PHA) recently announced an updated vaccine against COVID-19, recommending it for vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, individuals aged 50 and above, healthcare practitioners, those with chronic immunosuppressive diseases, and those at risk due to excessive obesity.
The vaccine is approved for individuals over 18, irrespective of previous doses, and is effective against prevalent variants. Despite the local detection of the JN.1 variant, Saudi authorities have reassured the public, noting its limited impact on intensive care unit admissions. As pandemic-related restrictions ease, Saudi Arabia has reopened various businesses and activities, with last year’s Hajj pilgrimage accommodating 1.8 million Muslims after a three-year hiatus.
“Wearing a mask in crowded places is crucial to protect yourself and others from respiratory infections,” emphasized the PHA in an X post.
