The General Authority for Roads has achieved significant milestones in enhancing road quality and traffic safety, marking remarkable progress since the launch of the roads sector strategy 500 days ago. This strategy focuses on three key areas: safety, quality, and traffic density. The Authority plays a crucial role in regulating and overseeing the sector by establishing policies, standards, and procedures.

One of the most notable achievements is the establishment of a regional office for the International Road Assessment Programme (IRAP) to enhance international cooperation in traffic safety. A large-scale survey revealed that over 77% of the Kingdom’s roads now meet safety standards, significantly surpassing the initial target of 66%. Additionally, the creation of a road safety data center has been instrumental in collecting and analyzing accident-related data, which helps in developing effective plans and programs to reduce accidents.
