Ramadan Iftar and Itikaaf at Makkah and Madinah suspended. The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced the suspension of the Ramadan Iftar and I’tikaaf at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.

The General President for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais confirmed during the annual media meeting that he held on Sunday, (remotely) the readiness of the presidency to receive pilgrims and worshipers during the blessed month of Ramadan.

He stated that the Presidency, in cooperation with the Emirate of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region, will work to provide individual ready-made breakfast meals for those visiting the Grand Mosque, and that due to the continuous raising of mashrabiyas and containers, two hundred thousand water bottles will be distributed daily.

He said that the al-Mataf courtyard will be devoted to pilgrims only, while 5 areas inside the Grand Mosque will be designated for prayer in addition to the eastern square.

For its part, the Prophet’s Mosque Affairs Agency stated that breakfast for those fasting this year will be limited to dates and water only, and it is forbidden to bring any food or drinks to the Prophet’s Mosque and its squares.

It was added that the breakfast will be individual, and the agency will coordinate with the competent authorities to provide the individual breakfast.
