Pakistan Independence Day Celebrated at Pakistan International School

Sana Bashir, Al Khobar – Pakistan International School, Al- Khobar, held a small but impressive ceremony on 14th August 2020 in the school to celebrate and commemorate with fervor and enthusiasm the day when Pakistan came into being. More details below.

Pakistan Independence Day Celebrated at Pakistan International School, Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia

The event was made special by the august presence of Mr. Mahmood Latif, Community Welfare Attache at the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Despite the COVID-19 situation, he had traveled all the way from Riyadh to Al-Khobar to celebrate Pak Independence Day with the PAK community in the eastern region of KSA.

Other worthy guests included Mr. Abdul Rehman, Chairman, Board of Directors, of Pakistan International School, Al- Khobar, Mr. Rao Kamran Khan, Member, Board of Directors, and Mr. Khawaja Salahuddin, Member Board of Directors. Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman, Vice Chairman, BOD attended this Program Online. A number of teachers, parents, and students also attended the celebrations of the important day in the history of Pakistan.

The celebrations started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool. A national patriotic song was sung by a student, Mr. Anas-ul Haq Shakir. Another young student, Mr. Huzaifa Malik, delivered an impressive speech about the Pakistan Movement and the struggle of our forefathers for the achievement of an independent country, Pakistan, for us.

Principal, Mr. Ajmal Jamil, in his opening remarks, said that the August 14th is the day of remembrance for the entire nation when the country’s ancestors achieved their goal of independence after making incomparable sacrifices. He reminded the audience that Quaid-e-Azam had foreseen a truly autonomous, modern, economically robust, Islamic welfare state.

He said that Pakistan is an Islamic Ideological State and it needs to adopt distinctive and exceptional sets of guiding principles of Islamic ideology for the main life domains of the country namely economic, political, and cultural and social domains. He hoped that the students, the successive generation, will more effectively contribute to the realization of the Quaid’s vision i.e. to make Pakistan a truly Islamic welfare state.

He articulated his cohesion and harmony with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and expressed his faith that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will one day be able to achieve their fundamental right of self-determination.

Rao Kamran Khan and Khawaja Salahuddin offered their heartfelt compliments to the heroes of the Freedom Movement. They said that it was an imperative need of the time to reclaim and rebuild Quaid’s Pakistan by making it economically stronger, politically stable, and socially just, fair and open-minded.

Chairman, Board of Directors, Mr. Abdul Rehman extended his warm felicitations to the Pakistanis present in the ceremony and living in the KSA on Pakistan’s Independence Day. He honored and commended the tireless and great effort of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and other heroes of the Pakistan Movement. He said that in order to retrieve the Quaid’s Pakistan, democracy in the country needs to be strengthened, rights of minorities need to be further protected, human rights of the citizens of the country need to be fully granted, and guiding principles of Islamic ideology needs to be justly and correctly implemented in the economic, political, cultural, and social domains of life.

Speaking about atrocities of the Indian government forces against Kashmiris in the Indian held Kashmir, Mr. Abdul Rehman condemned gross human rights abuses in that part of the world. He hoped that the Government of Pakistan will continue its moral and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir till they achieve their right of self-determination as per the number of resolutions adopted by the United Nations Security Council.

Mr. Mahmood Latif, while describing the importance of the day paid splendid tributes to Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and other great leaders of Pakistan Movement. It was their generous faith in the idea of Pakistan that led to the creation of an independent state, Pakistan, in the subcontinent. He stressed the need for all Pakistanis to rekindle their pledge and determination to follow the principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah i.e. the principles of equality, justice, and fair play.

In fact, it was Quaid’s commitment to the rule of law, justice, and democracy that led to the creation of Pakistan. He expressed his solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and said that the Government of Pakistan will carry on extending all moral, diplomatic and political support to them for the realization of their goal of achieving freedom.
The ceremony was concluded with a prayer for the progress, success and well being of Pakistan and all Pakistanis.
