Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will appoint Female Judges in courts as part of the move to empower women, the latest update by Hind Al-Zahid, undersecretary for women’s empowerment at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. More details below.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will appoint Female Judges in courts

The update by Hind Al-Zahid was announced on Friday, 15th January 2021. But this directive was also highlighted by the Minister of Justice Walid Al-Samaani where Al-Samaani gave directives to “appoint 100 women notaries for facilitating judicial services for women (Saudi Gazette).” Besides this, there were several appointments of qualified women in the fields of technology, administration, law, and Shariah. This has happened first time in the history of the ministry.

The Undersecretary for women’s empowerment also stressed the importance and the Government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. The rate of Saudi Women in the labor marked reached 31 percent where the target until 2025 was initially set for 25 percent.

“Justice Ministry has been focusing on female employment within the legal sector as part of its plans to support and empower women, widen their career options, and help them play a bigger role in this sector (Saudi Gazette).”
