HR Ministry proposed amendments for Non-Saudis, Maternity Leave and half million penalties

A number of amendments stipulated the necessity of electronically documenting contracts between the worker and the employer, and the possibility of extending the trial period to 180 days, and the beginning of the non-Saudi worker’s contract is from the date of commencement, if it was not specified.

It also included that the employer did not bear the exit and return fees, and stipulated that he bear any fees for renewing the work permit, as well as the automatic termination of the worker’s contract with the company’s final declaration of bankruptcy.

The amendment suggested increasing the period of maternity leave for women to 14 weeks instead of 10 weeks with full pay, and adding an article stipulating the fine from 200,000 to 500,000 riyals for those who practice recruitment activities without a license.

The project aims to support the trend to develop existing systems and regulations in a way that contributes to supporting and reforming the labor market and providing the appropriate legislative environment for the development of the private sector and creating a decent work environment for workers.
