Beverages in restaurants and stores must meet these requirements. Today (Wednesday), the SFDA, Saudi Food and Drug Authority clarified the requirements that must be met in food and beverage lists and electronic panels in restaurants, cafes, and juice stores.

And stressed that the name of the product should be written according to its type, whether it is “cocktail, juice, drink or nectara”, in addition to disclosing the calories or allergens contents of the product.

They also indicated the necessity to clarify the ingredients of the product, such as “mixed juice containing apples, orange and mango”, with the addition of the phrase “without added sugar” at the bottom of the list of fresh juices.

The authority warned against using misleading phrases in the lists of stores, cafes and restaurants, such as using the phrase “magic mixture or energy juices”, stressing the need to disclose the amount of added sugar in mixtures and drinks, in addition to writing the phrase “the consumer has the right to request not to add sugar in mixtures and drinks” in the lists.
