Elite Literature Society KSA – Javeria Asad, Khobar – We all have been living through the extraordinary times of Lockdown, Isolation, and Quarantine. In order to find creative and innovative ways to keep connected with each other, we are forced to leave our comfort zones.

Keeping this in mind, the Elite Literature Society of Saudi Arabia organized their first-ever Virtual Elite Literature Festival to connect the Literature across borders and Cultures. It was a three-day online literary festival from June 10 to June 12, 2021, with the aim of introducing the various genres of literature to the new generation in a comprehensive style.

Privilege to Express

The main theme of the festival was ‘Privilege to Express’. Literature offers us a detailed overview of human experiences, giving us the opportunity to express our feelings and observations through Reading, Context, Poetry, and Art. The Society picked up these cores of Literature and designed the program with a specific theme every day. Each day of the festival was dedicated to a specific theme of Eloquence, Context, and Rhythm.

The event was jointly moderated by the founder of the Society Javeria Asad, Finance Secretary, Asad Ali Hassan, and Special Member, Ms. Saima Dastgir. The kid’s segment was very well conducted by Kids Club coordinators Faiz Ali Hassan and Mohammad Hanzala Tariq.

Honorable Speakers – Elite Literature Society

Well-known Authors and Poets from all over the world were invited as honorable speakers. The special guests of this literary festival were Iftikhar Arif, a living legend and a famous poet of Pakistan, and Tauseeq Haider, a well-known personality and media anchor.

In his speech of Literature Festival on Day 2, respected Iftikhar Arif emphasized getting acquainted with the new generation of literature and civilization and stressed the importance of working together for the propagation of our culture and Urdu language.

At the adjourning session of the festival on the last day, Mr. Tauseeq Haider spoke on the importance of literature through media. In response to a question, he highlighted the fluency in language and accuracy of pronunciation play an important role for an eloquent speaker.

Elite Literature Society invited popular International Literary Persons, renowned Author Jessica J Lockhart from Panama, American comedian writer John Vorhus, American poet John Bishop, and Dutch Author Dr. Siskia Harkima. Each of the reputed speakers talked about their respective specialized genres of literature.

Bikhray Moti

Engr. Rizwan Ahmed from Saudi Arabia presented a detailed review of his book Bikhray Moti. Respected Nayeem Javed from Saudi Arabia shed light on Allama Iqbal’s philosophy of life. Leading Pakistani book tuber, ‘Book Buddy’, Shah Rukh Nadeem and Read Pakistan Vice-Chairperson Fatima Gilani highlighted the Importance and Impact of reading books. Ms. Nazia Kamran Kashif from Pakistan introduced her fiction books Makli and Ishqzad. Representing the new generation, Zainab Lodhi, a grade 8 Student from Pakistan reviewed her book Gul Bano.

Well-known poet Mr. Hassan Abbas Raza from Islamabad gave a meaningful talk on poetry and entertained the audience with his mesmerizing romantic poetry.

The President – Elite Literature Society

The President of the Society, Prof. Muhammad Waheed Aslam in his inaugural address highlighted the importance of literature and welcomed all the speakers. The children of the Kids Wing of the Society also presented reviews of various books and exhibited their paintings.

Ahsan Mehmood Malik, Vice President of the Society, and Rubina Shaheen, Vice President of Education, briefed the audience about the aims and objectives of the Society and its future strategy.

In her closing remarks, Founder Javeria Asad thanked all the speakers and the audience from the bottom of her heart for their active participation on all three days of the festival. She also acknowledged the presence of supporting partners and media representatives of the event. The audience appreciated the efforts of the society for the propagation of literature.
