21,000 buses prepared for pilgrims in Makkah. Approximately 21,000 buses are being prepared to cater to Muslim pilgrims during the upcoming annual Hajj season in Saudi Arabia, as stated by a spokesperson for the Saudi General Syndicate of Cars, Ruba Al Ghusn. The union’s goal is to transport around 2 million pilgrims this year. Saudi Arabia has initiated early preparations for the Hajj scheduled in June and commenced associated operations earlier this month.

Last year, nearly 2 million pilgrims, marking a return to pre-pandemic levels, performed Hajj in and around the holy city of Mecca. The country has established rules for this year’s Hajj, indicating that no specific places will be allocated for countries at the holy sites. Instead, countries securing early contracts will be prioritized for appropriate places.

The issuance of Hajj visas will start on March 1 and conclude on the 20th of Shawwal, corresponding to April 29 in the Islamic calendar. Hajj pilgrims are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on the first day of Dhul Qaidah, the 11th Islamic month, corresponding to May 9. This new mechanism aims to facilitate preparations for the obligatory Islamic duty of Hajj.
